Media Preview 1.2.2.169

For me, this is a smaller, yet more effective alternative to K-Lite Codec Pack, simply because of the fact it does a better job at thumbnailing media files than the Icaros Thumbnailer that is now bundled with K-Lite, which is still relatively buggy.

The software is clean, no adware, no virus, a quick install, and is pretty simple to use. Very happy I found this.

I hope it continues to stay updated! Thanks Free-Codecs!

madVR 0.74

The MadVR renderer is great. Video looks crisper and clearer, and it makes terrific use of the graphics card you're using. However, there are a few issues which I have with this particular renderer. First and foremost, when I use it, it is somewhat slow when seeking through most media files. When switching to a different renderer, I no longer have this problem. So the seek function should definitely be improved and fixed in future releases.

In addition, I'm disappointed there is NO 64-bit version of the renderer available right now. Hopefully the developer is planning to take care of this soon, as I do not intend on further using 32-bit media players on a 64-bit version of Windows.

Otherwise, it's a great piece of software and I definitely recommend trying it out.

LAV Filters 0.36

The LAV filters are really impressive and to me, they seem to work a heck of a lot better than the FFDshow filters.

I don't use the LAV Audio yet, because I'd like to see a few more interesting features added before I decide on using it. Otherwise, the filters are great and I plan on using them for a long time.

Definitely recommended.
