Brave just enabled it by default for stable users yesterday (1.97).

Not specified is chromeOS will be passively gaining decode capability too, and Webview (all droids), so apps and games displaying web content should be able to serve jpegxl images without needing any change).

Not directly related, but for reading jxl images on android, recommended is either Fossify Gallery (no animation) or Refra (full support, handy features - grapheneOS picked it as its gallery).

Could be a game changer for many soon!
It's still a bit buggy with minor display issues in this version, but runs pretty quickly and smoothly (i.e. quicker and smoother than Photoshop). I've only done a few tests, but seems to handle large complex multi-layered files with ease. Keep an eye on each beta update as it gets closer to it's target V1.0 version.
One to watch!

Thanks Daniel, glad it reached you before you checked out.

One small correction: the 4K Max isn’t really an older model. It’s still on sale, and it’s now the last Fire TV Stick that runs Fire OS, so it’s the one to buy if Kodi is why you want a stick.

Sticks that already run Fire OS won’t be switched over to Vega, so a 4K Max you buy today will keep letting you sideload. If you go that way, the current Kodi APK is here: https://www.free-codecs.com/download/kodi-for-android.htm

FxSound is a good tool, however, when FxSound is enabled, there is a slight audio delay in online audio.

Really interesting news - I had no idea Amazon was switching the new Fire TV Stick 4K over to Vega OS and that it would block sideloading entirely.

Good to know the older Fire OS models like the 4K Max still let you run Kodi, since that is the whole reason a lot of people buy these sticks. Thanks for the clear breakdown, saved me from buying the wrong model.

Hi! Thanks for creating this list, and I have a small question: why do the channels I used to watch suddenly become unavailable or fail to load? I can no longer watch the shows/channels I use to tune in.

This is amazing! I could no longer afford cable so I cut the cord and started watching Hulu, Youtube, and others without missing cable much. However, there were a few shows i missed watching live, such as Jeopardy, so this is great!

Love the article; it's easy to follow, and explains how to solve issues that arise. Well done!

For old computers, use WebP codec instead (viewer only). Tested on windows 7 x86 and all fine.
