In its latest 1.8.1 release, MPC-BE (Media Player Classic - Black Edition) introduces updated features and increased stability.
This open-source media player for Windows, known for its lightweight framework and comprehensive format support, gains functionality aimed at smoother playback and broader compatibility.
MPC Audio Splitter now supports radio broadcasts in WAV format, while FLV Splitter resolves a rare crash with FLV files containing MP3 audio. The video converter in MPC Video Decoder has also been improved.
This release adds the ability to load images in JPEG XL and AVIF formats (requiring a WIC decoder), including support for album art and logos in JPEG XL.
Alongside updated Dutch, Chinese (Traditional), Japanese, Romanian, and Korean translations, MPC-BE 1.8.1 also upgrades several key libraries:
ffmpeg (n7.2-dev-526-gd6b2d08fc7), dav1d (1.5.0), Little-CMS (git-lcms2.16-72-g607fe1a), MediaInfo (git-v24.06-53-g6183f187f), vvdec (v3.0.0), and ZenLib (git-v0.4.41-27-gb896492), improving performance and compatibility.
