The latest update to MPC-BE, version 1.7.3, brings several improvements that boost the media player's performance and usability.
This release focuses on enhancing audio and video playback, subtitle handling, and overall stability, making it a more robust choice for media enthusiasts.
Improved Audio and Video Playback
One of the key updates includes improved DTS-HD track detection and enhanced support for Dolby Vision Profile 7.
The update also introduces the VVdeC decoder for VVC video playback on processors without SSE4.1 support, along with optimized video conversion processes that enhance playback quality, especially on older hardware.
This update also resolves issues with FFV1 format detection, ensuring smoother video processing.
Enhanced Subtitle Handling and User Experience
The player now better handles subtitles, with the "Forced Only" setting working across entire PGS tracks.
Other enhancements include improved file properties window movement across different display settings, more reliable DVD position memory, and increased player stability when using external filters.
Users will also notice that manually added subtitles are now retained in the playlist, and the player will only close after the DirectShow graph has fully ended.
To round out the update, the installer now requires InnoSetup 6.1.0 or later, and translations have been updated for Romanian, Korean, and Japanese users.
