For new users: KMPlayer was made originally with the code of MPC and FFDSHOW, but when the developer sold the software to Pandora TV, slowly it became a useless video player.
It's full of big and small bugs, the interface and settings refer to Windows 2000 in a bad way, old filters, old plugins no more used, stutter and jitter, audio and video out of sync, a mess. madVR is not well integrated.
Also, the 32 bit version is no more recommended from the KMPlayer team itself on their forum 'cause is full of unwanted ads, also while playing video in windowed mode!
They advice to use the 64 bit version, which is a clone of MPC-HC, with the same options and very similar GUI.
So, my advice is: please don't use this software, please prefer capable video players like MPC-HC or MPC-BE or Zoom Player or JRiver, made by honest and competent developers.
everytime i install the the km playewr at the last moment of extaction it gets stopped automatically saying porunegud setup stopped working.
i tried 100 imes n downloaded same version n even old version like 4.0.3 from different sites including kmplayer.com but same result.n because of that i can only open audio files but not a single video file.i used wi fi everytime ??
Original was good and all were up to last update when lots of videos that would play now do not (CODECS?)
Screen too dark or no video only sound and some with no sound but all will play in VLC.
Annoying ad screen to right of main viewing area cannot be dispensed with on start up and one has to manually dismiss by toggle switch on top bar.
BAD update and I would not recommend to install

How Ironic
With every update it gets worse and worse, needless to say, Its pretty sad that the positive customer reviews for any site rating the new versions of KMP are predominantly generic and unoriginal.
Maybe the bakers should stop making fake review accounts to bump up the ratings and use the time to instead to actually bring this piece of software back out of the gutter.

This new version, 3.7.0 was a stepbackwards. I was a KMP user for 5 years a now I moved to MPC Classic.
It has no adds, has no album art column, does not want sell any product and its installation does not change anything im my computer.
I tried to hide the album art column and use KMP has a player only, like the old versions but I didn´t get it.

Dissappointed
I'm a long time KMPlayer user. It's all I've used for 8 years now since switching from VLC.
However, this new update is a piece of nuts. Aside from the ads now which have to be blocked via firewall, the right side panel is unnecessary rubbish. Yet, it's the not playing videos as smoothly as it always has which is worse.
I have since reverted to the previous version.
Fix this rubbish. KMPlayer has always been lightweight, fast, self contained and with so many advanced options and functions not found elsewhere. People are only now just starting to catch on to KMP as being superior to VLC, despite it being the case for so long. Newcomers will be met with this new attrocity and be turned off.
Make the + version paid and and without the new crap and keep the normal version free. Many people will pay as it's worth the money.
Pot Player can be a good alternative to it. Responsive, and codec settings can be customize fairly easy.

They simply ruined it with the gigantic right hand ads that just pops up. Horrible idea to have no way to turn that off.

Still the best multimedia player out there!
The most advanced and yet simple to use. Using it for 5 years, had no problem!
when the original creator sold out this product. The bad things happened.
and now the latest kmplayer 3.4 has changed the logo and everything.
a huge chunk of adwares are packed in the install file.
i personally used kmp for 6 years, until 3.2 it works fine, but now, i decided to switch
Please make video/audio record option & appearance like Progdvb please....
And can change video / audio Quick Capture option...
Also add Start / Stop Record Key on Keys / Remote option Please....
Keep it Up Guys......
Thanks...
the km player is no1 media player in the world i hope the whole world downloads id and use it---------
yes i believe km player will capture the world...with new features like cyber dvd real 3d..............
love you guys who made km player a great player
I always love the KMP Player , n loved this new version too . Easy to use , easy shortcuts , like the look n its varied options .
Just that , i am facing problem with .avi files .
Plz fix it .
I think the administrators should conduct a little test of general knowledge about how to install the software to anyone who wants to leave a comment.
It is a shame that so many people do not know how to read!
Asloane - Decline, not next or check or uncheck the boxes you just click decline

I have been using for months now, it is awesome compared to vlc. Media Player Classic was my choice before KMPlayer, but MPC had very low volume, and KMP had the best of both vlc and MPC.
Just one thing annoy me while using KMP - the subtitle rendering, when a see a anime the styled subs are in default fonts(I heard you can correct that by changing some sort of setting, but MPC needs no such change)
just press F2 to go to seatings, from there go to subtitle processing-Multi-Subetc - - Advanced and enable first box ( .ass .ass2 .ssa .ssf )

Agree with "dead silence". I have been using player for a long time with minor problem, but always addressed and fixed. Definately the most powerful freeware player out there.
I have seen this product grow and can just imagine where it is going to. Well done for an excellent product and you got my support.
"Pissed Dued", next time read the screens before clicking next. Everything is explained with and option to either change the defaults or ops out on ask bars, etc.

Just to add some word to "pissed dued" stupid comments .
First of all KMPlayer is one of the most powerful freeware video players I've seen. The most advanced multimedia player available.
VLC is crapware compared to KMPlayer, doesn't have a half of options that KMPlayer has.
Of course , you can encounter in freeware's ask toolbars ,babylon toolbars and others, most of free software has it, and in KMPlayer setup you can DECLINE when you are asked to install such toolbars.
Of course you can associate all files to be played with KMPlayer or none of them, "pissed dued"...
READ BEFORE YOU CLICK NEXT, setup is offering options for everything that an average user needs.

KRAPWARE media player
i thought it might be cool to have another player installed besides MPC and VLC - just to check out
but first, it tries to install the askstub krap toolbar
and then without offering any options or asking asking, it changes all your media file associations to this krap player, that then doesn't even load on media file (avi) launch
i am uninstalling this krapware and reinstalling klitemega/mpc and winamp (just to get all the file associations) and also have vlc for anything that might need it
SCREW KMP!
but i LOVE free-codecs.com!!!!!!! thanks MUCH for making it ALL available - the good and the occasional bad!
Can't say I am happy with Kmplayer lately, its all due to sounds issues (AAC I think) I faced with latest version 3.0.0.1442 r2. I hope they would fix their problems quicker. Lack of updates to fix sound issues is bugging me LOL.
On other than there is a similar player Daum PotPlayer I think by same team or something, is getting better each time. Not to mention frequent updates!
In fact I tested on some videos using same codecs, I get less cpu usage by PotPlayer compare to Kmplayer. Nevertheless I will continue to download Kmplayer when they release new versions.

This is the greatest thing to hit multimedia since the flash player was developed. This is called Korean Media Player hence the name KMP.
Someone posted and called them thieves.Harsh words coming from ignorant people.
Korea has no law in regard to copyright or patent and thus the beauty of this program.
They are free to develop the best MMP available.
If you dont like it though...Tell it to China.
No AVCHD playback out of the box. So "Best multimedia player ever Period" is a bit of an overstatement. If you want to watch your camcorder movies hassle-free there are other "best" free media players around, which actually work.
Well, ive not the problems mentioned by Olong with the actual version and a old Athlon X2 6000 CPU under Win7/64Bit. 1080p MKVs using under 20% CPU-Power.
Im not a coder but probably the player-soft got a failed enhancement handling multicore-cpus in the last version.
Just comment again to say I given up playing with its settings and got a bit older copy The KMPlayer 3.0.0.1438 CUDA + HAM DXVA from net and now it runs very good even better than I tweak myself. They add CoreAVC/MPC-HC Audio & Video Decoder/Cyberlink Decoder. No Sync issues or anything.
I noticed it however uses 30-50% CPU of my AMD 6 Core compare to official build own settings which only uses 10-15%
Weird player, so much options and doesn't always work at its best.
Example my old 1.7ghz (retired) pc I run all mkv properly up to 720p. Now new AMD 6 core I had issue at beginning with 1080p so I got CoreAVC and keep changing setting until able to more or less properly run 1080p then I checked and noticed after short while SD mkv files goes out of sync! which never happen on old pc.
I ended up deleting Kmplayer registry to forced it to give real default settings before tweaking again for it to run CoreAVC. Now finally looks like SD & HD mkv can run properly without sync or etc issues.
Its quite a good player only 1 small glitch that is bugging me. If you change between full screen and desktop it will make the films jerks. At first I thought my AMD 6 core didn't handle 1080p properly then I tried on SD shows which also gave some problem. This issue wasn't there couple of versions ago I think.
Agree with qq. I used several players like VLC MPlayer and MPC before but KMPLayer only for a years or so now. Real good player.
Ive been using KMPlayer ever since it first came out and its by far the best player out there. This player has played all types of videos including flv videos and audio without any problems or crashes. I give it a ten thumbs up
Great great player... except that it can't play rmvb files in my 64bit computer... apparently it's a problem of Real Media that $uck$. People have suggested to copy the Real codecs into the KMP folder, switching back to Real 10.5 or using Real Alternative... but none worked...
copy codecs into the kmp directory then change splitter in settings

Wow... awesome. I agree with you guys. Best player ever. Before know this player, i usually using MPC. But, since i knew this player all files can playback easily without a problems.
Four thumbs for KMPlayer. Thx to creator.

This is the best video player ever. It can play my video in ts format. Thanks'
The latest version (downloaded 25Feb10)
Complicated, difficult and tricky. Installed an unwanted tool bar, changed all settings, and took over anything media.
Scattered files all over the computer and almost impossible to uninstall after hours of work. All I wanted was an alternative player- not be taken over by bloated stuff like this. Unless you have a good reason to try and use it, stick with VLC or something unpretentious.
Honestly, this is a much more stable build than the last one, and when I installed it this time, there was no conflict with the video thumbnails, which is great. I love how this media player has more options for configuration with the audio and video. I'll give this a shot for a while instead of GOM Player.
