XCD DirectShow filter 6b

Updated: 14 Nov 2004

The XCD DirectShow filter allows you to parse RIFF/CDXA files and play them from Mode2 CDs.
The XCD recording format, whose correct name is Mode 2 Form 2, stores normal data files the same way as VCDs.

One of the three layers of error correction of normal data CDs is eliminated and the remaining free space can be used with data.

An advantage of XCDs is that they can hold more data than regular CDs, 795 MB instead of 700MB. You can even get to 960 MB if you combine it with Gigarec.

This DirectShow source filter enables you to use any DirectShow-based media player to play mode 2 form 2 files from CDs.

The last version of XCD DirectShow filter was released in 2004 and it was updated to run on Win9x and Windows Me.
