ACE Mega CodecS Pack 6.03 - Professional Edition

It works great for those who know what they are doing. Like it said above, if you dont, then dont. You need to know what you already have installed and what you need to install before using, if you cant answer those questions then you have no business using this software in the first place.

Don't under-rate it just because you are ignorant... it is exactly what it says it is, a huge codec pack, 9 times out of 10 you are NOT going to be installing ALL of them...doh! and a note to the newbies who think they can just start encoding and sharing movies: PLEASE leave it to the pros, there is far too much crap out there thanks to you newbies thinking you are good at encoding just because you got it to work for you...

leave it to those that know how to actually give the best encoding for their byte,cpu and gpu cycle.

If you are one of the computer noobs, who click install without even reading anything, and expecting the computer to do the rest, this is simply not for you.

There are loads of codecs, but its up to you to decide which ones are necessary. If you do it wrong(or try to install it all) you will end up with a ruined OS, and a media player working with less file types than before.

If you dont know what you are doing, it has options like "minimalist" "just play" "lite edition" \"player edition\" in it. Either use them or dont even bother downloading it.

However if you have some experience how to configure this, it provides many extra encoding options for adobe premiere, 3ds max or similar programs. It doesnt cause any problems, I installed it 6 years ago, and still havent formatted. Since then, I installed it on another pc, 4 laptops and 2 notebooks, no problems at all.

This PACK deserves so much better rating than it gets, as the problem is not the codec pack, but people with zero knowledge trying to act like experienced users. This is a codec PACK, not a miracle worker.

Thank You greatly for this software it does what microsoft should of done in the first place when they made the media player and should of been included for free within it.
ONE WORD OF ADVICE FOR EVERONE !!!
make sure you dont install the one piece they say might cause problems on your system. they do warn u it can cause issues with various os's. Second install the pro version to get all the benifits this does. you dont neccessareilly have to install the bs player or media classic but u do need to put the finger prints everywhere and force the codecs into your media player.

I'm not going to complain about the actual codecs here - I understand many of them are out of date, but rather the fact that installing this almost completely wiped out my windows start menu. Where did it go? It left on some folders but completely removed a LOT of links.

if you don't need ENCODE videos, DO NOT INSTALL THIS CODECPACK. it contains lot of cool codecs, which are easy to find, but in such compilation? noone is telling you "install professional", there is also "player edition" or "minimalist" one - just use those and it works fine. btw: it uses quicktime alternative, which is in trouble with itunes and quicktime also.
trouble with hangin' explorer? just don't use it. it is fast, but using key-commanded total commander you will be much faster - and see thumbnails too :)))

Itunes crashes with ace mega codecs pack because it interfears with quicktime. try this, uninstalll ace mega codecs pack, and when you reinstall it, search for the quicktime codec. Make sure its unchecked and click install. that should work.

Tested and works fine,
except for one thing, it crashes explorer if i click on some video files(especially the ones frm a digicam) and brings up the Data Execution Prevention thing up

btw has anyone tested if this works with windows Vista

i have 4 pc's all have ace mega codecs installed great product i like having tools and codecs in 1 exe, anyway 3 pc's itunes will no longer work and will not uninstall 1 pc itunes is fine but adobe premier will not work.
i just reformatted my machine and installed ace mega 1st i realize it install quicktime 6.52 which break qicktime bundled w/ itunes since its 7.x if itunes is installed first.
i've installed itunes nero and adobe after and everything is fine. so install ace first and you should be ok.

With this codec, I can play all extenxion file movie

what can i say, i c alot of ppl are dissapointed over the pack. but one thing i have noticed. dont have a bounch of players before u install this pack. many will get errors. but if u install them after u install this pack NO PROBLEMO!!

many complains about there is 2 many codecs and filters. if u miss 1 codec dont bother downloading this. i have used it 4 quite some while and have installed it on all the comps my famili have. no prbolems. the reason i have it, i hate downloading a file and dont be able 2 open it. you can even open music from cd on pc games.... best codec that is, if you want pandoras box, its right before you!!

I like this pack too much, but i would like to ask if somone can help me to decompile it (unpack the Innosetup) there is an encryption, i want to make some modification to it to avoid some problems with some computers on wich i want to install it.

Missed my system up something awful.
All I want to know is how do I uninstall it?

All i get is this error message:"list index out of bounds" and it wont uninstall either. Any idea?

IT WAS A NICE PACK TO FINALLY SEE SOMTHING THAT HAD EVERYHTING IN ONE AND NOT HAVE TO MONEY AROUND WITH 3 OR 4 OTHER PROGRAMS. THER IS A BUT THOUGH, IT DOES HAVE ISSUES UNINSTALLING AND REINSTALLING AND THE DASHBOARD HANGS WITCH MAKES IT VERY HARD TO WORK WITH AND MAKE IT MORE CUSTOM TO WHAT YOU NEED. I HAVE WORKED WITH ALL CoDecS BEFORE AND THIS MAKES IT NICE JUST HAS A LOT OF LIL ISSUE TO FIX.

This package is fking awsome! had video playback problems with this and my previous computer and have spend Alot of time to solve it, when I solved one problem another popped up instead, but with this package, all problems solves everything instantly, just install and play :)

I like this pack so far, i installed the pro version and it works fine, all you gotta do is uncheck whatever stuff u dont need. So far it plays all my videos and music flawlessly.for all u who like complaining get a cardboard box and hide under it to keep you safe from whatever you cant understand :)
