If your Maya TV app shows nothing but errors this week, that is why.

Here is what happened, whether viewers are at risk, and what to do with the money and the app you have left.

What Happened

On November 4, Delhi Police raided two locations, one in Bahadurgarh, Haryana, and one in Rajouri Garden, Delhi.

They arrested a man accused of reselling Maya IPTV subscriptions and seized the phone he allegedly used to run them.

The case goes back to a police complaint (an FIR) filed on May 29, 2026, under India's Copyright Act, its IT Act and the new criminal code, the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. JioStar, which owns JioHotstar and the Star channels, supplied the evidence.

According to the FIR, the Maya TV app was handed out as an APK file and offered more than 4,450 TV channels, including live sport, with no rights to any of them. The accused allegedly sold it for about two years, along with two other apps, on a commission for each subscription.

Is Maya IPTV Gone for Good?

For now, yes. JioStar says the app is "currently non-operational", and police are still looking for the rest of the network behind it.

Be careful with anyone who now offers a "new Maya server" or a "Maya 2" APK. Pirate services often come back under a new name, and the same sellers simply take your money a second time.

Delete the Maya APK.

Apps from outside the Play Store get no safety checks and no updates once the service dies. If you are unsure what an APK really is, our free APK and XAPK Analyzer shows what it contains and which permissions it asks for.

Am I in Trouble for Using It?

The reports on this case are about the man who sold the app, and none of them mention action against subscribers. Indian police raids on pirate IPTV this year have followed the same pattern, going after operators and resellers.

That is not a promise for the future. In Europe, seized payment records have led to letters and fines for ordinary viewers, as our guide on how to tell a legal IPTV service from a pirate one explains.

Can I Get My Money Back?

Almost certainly not. You paid a reseller, not a company, and that reseller is now under arrest.

What you can do is limit the damage:

  1. Stop paying. Do not renew with the same seller or buy a "replacement" service from them.
  2. Remove the app everywhere. Delete Maya TV and any other app the seller installed from your phone, Android box or Fire TV Stick.
  3. Change reused passwords. If the login or email you gave the seller uses a password you use elsewhere, change it there - the seller's phone is now with the police.
  4. Keep any message you receive. If a broadcaster or the police contact you, do not ignore it, and get proper legal advice before you sign anything.

Where to Watch Instead, Legally

The cricket and Indian channels most people bought Maya for are available legally, and some cost less than you might think. JioHotstar's mobile plan starts at Rs 79 a month, and our guide to the best legal IPTV services lists more paid and free picks for India.

For free channels, the IPTV Channel Finder lists public streams by country, including Indian news and Doordarshan channels. Our free legal IPTV playlist guide shows how to load them into any IPTV player.

Quick questions

Why is Maya IPTV not working?

Delhi Police arrested an alleged Maya IPTV reseller on November 4, 2026, after a complaint from JioStar. The app has been non-operational since the raids.

Will Maya IPTV come back?

Nobody has said so, and the investigation is ongoing. Any "new" Maya app or server offered now is just as unlicensed as the old one.

Can police find out I used Maya IPTV?

Resellers keep customer details and payment records, and the accused's phone was seized. So far, the reports mention no action against viewers.

Is watching pirate IPTV illegal in India?

Streaming channels without the rights breaks India's Copyright Act. Police action has so far focused on the people who run and sell these services.

Is there a legal way to watch IPTV in India for free?

Yes. Doordarshan channels and many news channels stream legally for free, and you can find them by country in a legal IPTV channel list.

The bottom line

Maya IPTV is off the air, the money is gone, and the seller is under arrest. Delete the app, do not pay for a replacement, and move to channels that will still be there next month.
