When streaming after few days audio is DEsyncronised.
Solution is back to codec from 2011y or 2012y.
@Al Jung:
The encoders were removed, last version to have them seems to be around rev. 3670. Reasons were outdated, buggy and inferior encoders; you should use standalone encoders (x264vfw or x264 for h264 encodings, standalone XviD for xvids..).

To make it work:
1. You must have the right version depending on what player you use. A 64bit-player needs the 64bit-version of ffdshow, and 32bit-player needs 32bit version. This (sometimes) means the installation of both 32- and 64-bit versions to make all players work with ffdshow.
2. You need to set the priority to MAX in the ffdshow-setup. To do this, you must run ffdshow-configuration in administration-mode (right-click the setup in menu-bar and run 'as administrator'), then alter the priority-bar. Do this at all places / at both 32-bit and 64-bit versions to be sure.
Don't blame me if this is not official way 8-)
@Sentosa
Open FFDShow Audio Decoder and FFDShow Video Decoder and click Codecs on the left. Choose which formats you'd like to be handled by which decoder and click Apply/OK.
I downloaded the ffdshow software recently and read through the instructions, still did not find any info how to apply it.
Do I need to select the video to play through the ffdshow software, or it is not necessary at all to open and run this software as the programme once installed, will be effective in the background ?
If you insist on playing back videos that are encoded in codecs that have jpeg-trash in them or are distorted from being encoded at a low ksec, then you will find this program a definite blessing.
Not only does it have an option to run directly with Media Player Classic and do block-deinterleaving and other pre- and post- production outputs that can blur and filter out video artefacts but the codec is also a video encoder allowing you to encode multiple formats including .AVI using WMV XviD DivX Mp4 and several other popular formats as its backboard.We are rapidly entering an age where a video codec is not so much based on the quality it can compress a video but the quality of its output through pre- and post- filters that clean it before it plays it back to be viewed by an audience.
Modern XviD already has a pop-up that appears in your taskbar to clean your video by adding interleave and noise to remove artefacts.FFDShow does just that and can work with a large variety of video playback software and ultimately any video format to clean the video before being seen, Media Player Classic just being one of the programs it can work directly work.
You owe it to yourself to examine this incredible combination codec and filter that cleans and removes artefacts from your videos as they play back notwithstanding what video codec they were originally encoded in.I am rating it Very Good, not Excellent, because the interface is HUGE and may appear cumbersome and complex to some, such as myself. bot you in james natasha go thed ese we faot

@ghencea RO
The encoders were removed from ffdshow due to being "outdated and buggy". Very, very sad thing to do :(
If you want to use the encoders, you should install a version which still has them, latest being from somewhere around Dec/2010. More info from doom9's forum or from the home page,

I've installed this version of ffdshow and my previous codecs in vdub are gone. Don't have xvid and many others anymore, only 4 codecs (mjpeg, huffyuv, ffv1 and dv) which are not playing on my dvd player. Now I can't encode anything.
Any ideas? I am on XP SP3. The previous ffdshow worked ok.

Downloaded the latest 64 bit but it will not run on Win7 64 bit. My processor supports MMx,SSE and SSe2 as required.
Thanks for this thread though. I was just using latest ffdshow-tryouts and surprisingly almost no encoders were available.
I've recently switched to Windoze 7 so at first I thought it was some DirectShow/VfW compatibility issue with W7, but thanks to this thread it's clear that it's indeed ffdshow that has changed.
I think I'll do like Martin Koster and switch back to some late 2011 release. Ty anyways.
i have used it for about 4years but i always like it though sometimes it also cause alot trouble for my player.
Encoders were removed from ffdshow because they were inferior to the 'official' versions of those codecs.
For encoding H.264 you should use the x264VFW codec.
For encoding MPEG-4 you should use the Xvid codec.
Removing encoders from ffdshow is a bummer!!
This lame decision has reduced the usability of ffdshow for me considerably. Hope the encoders(in particular mpeg2 in avi,x264 & xvid)are back as soon as possible.

Missing the encoders in the latest version(s). Switched back to Dec2010 release.
I Like the way everything is working via fddshow, which interfaces very well with other software.
Would have chosen a 5 when the encoders were still there.
@K D DOGG & @gamerfreak & others who are concerned:
The developers of ffdshow have decided (at least until there are enough people asking for them) to drop the encoders out of the program. Reasons are (quoting from memory here, NOT verbatim) that the code is "buggy, outdated, obsolete and difficult & time-consuming to update", and that there are better, stand-alone products to replace them.
But it seems if enough people start to make noise about the missing encoders, there might still be hope for them to be re-integrated; go to the doom9's forum and read the discussion, and if You feel like it, post your opinions eg. somewhere here: http://forum.doom9 .org/showthread.php?p=1463368#post1463368
Otherwise 5 star product, but the missing encoders drop half of the use cases :(
Seems to decode OK but like previous reviewer I found the encoder limited to just a couple formats instead of the usual twenty-something formats. So was the previous version. I had to go back to a 2010 release to recover the encoding ability that worked so fine for me with Virtualdub.

It works very well, but how come this updated version gives me only 4 codecs? It only lists Huffyuv, FFV1, DV, MJPEG and uncompressed?

FFDShow doesn't start in Windows 7 64-bit. No icons show up in the toolbar.
It works perfectly from day 1, without hassle, virus, or else.
Fast, reliable and secure. Thanks for sharing with professionalism and safety. D
@Valentino: It doesn't matter which player is used. FFDShow doesn't start in Windows 7 64-bit.
Hi Valentino:* I have it working here. Im running Windows 7 64-bit so it may just be something complex ? Ive worked with FFDShow for years now and its no picnic to get the interface to appear, but I finally did.Hope you are having better luck with it now.

How to configure FFDShow, that will work on Windows 7 x64? When I run movie, there is no FFDShow icons (for audio and video) in Windows tray.
I also try 64-bit version of FFDShow and it doesn't work too. Thank you for helping me.
ffdshow is awesome.
recently i changed my windows to win7 64bits, and installed FFDSHOW 64bits but there is a problem that I can't listen to any MKV movie sound.
I hope developers can fix this quickly.
Excellent piece of software, has codecs and filters for audio, video and subtitles support (which could be a bit better, I use DirectVobSub), multithreaded etc etc.
Only problem, aside from subs, is Xvid encoding (using Xvid-library, haven't tried libavcodec), which produced jerky picture, so I use a separate install of XviD.
@Bobo: I think you need some CD/DVD-copyright removing app, search here or google eg. "decss on-the-fly", "watch copyrighted DVD" or some such, or, you could rip the CD/DVD to hard-drive and watch it there; there's that kind of rippers aplenty, classic being DVD Decrypter, though it's not updated anymore.
I'm not sure if this was what to get but I got xp home on my lappy and updated it and such but no decoder came with it. So I got this and its almost working ... I think. I have copyright problems apparently? I just want to be able to play DVDS!
im on xp sp2. this codec really got worst on virtualdubmod.espcially converting m2v+wav files out to h.264.
it freezes couple of frames then it played.
audio is not in sync.
i updated to this after installing k-lite codec pack.i had no problem with the previous rev610. this one even export a black video for h.263+.
what am i missing?
I can't think of any flaw except some limitation on styled sub... This codecs play just about everything, it's pretty easy to setup yet very configurable if you wish to do.
@sid stop talking bullnuts.
I was just trying to play an MPEG video, went to search for the codecs,I didn't intend to make a movie or make money from it, got to this site. It said freeware very boldly, when installed it, it forced me to register, when I go to register, it asks me for some big money.
Isn't this a con firm? Just waisted my precious lunch hour at work. Now if I possibly wanted to buy this in the future, I surely won't buy it from this firm.
Hi Sid:* You need to be careful when you install software. Never register even Freeware, they will almost always invariably ask for money or donations. If software is Freeware, there should never be a registration.
Never leave a valid Email unless you want SPAM.Hope you are having better luck with this codec today. ☺

Works great. I downloaded it and everything works just fine now. I had some problems with my ac3 audio and mpeg (video) files, but after this, everything can be played that comes from my cam corder. Amazing!
The codec works fine and my card is able to decode H.264, DXVA only doesn't work when I use my monitor's native resolution of 2048x1152. If I set it to 1920x1080 it works fine however the image isn't as sharp outside of MPC so I have to switch the res back and forth.
I think this is a problem with this specific card at this resolution, so I don't know if the FFDshow coders can do anything about it :/
It works great at 1920x1080 though, really takes the stress off my CPU.
The DXVA feature only works with hd3850 cards and "higher" types as far as I know @ KEZIA.
Take a look here:
http://nunnally.ahmygoddess .net/watching-h264-videos-using-dxva/
I got an ATI HD3850 (AGP!) and I can decode several H264 1080p videos even simultaneously, without any performance-loss. So FFDSHOW really kicks a** in my opinion! ;)
So, by the way, will there be a feature to EN-code H264 videos with DXVA in the coming FFDSHOW-Builds? 'Cuz that would be god-like...
Excellent codec, however DXVA doesn't work with my ATI HD3650 when my resolution is set to 2048x1152 (my Samsung's native resolution). If this could be fixed in the next release I'd be very appreciative :)
I think this is a problem with ATI cards + 2048x1152 resolution.
There is a sound problem with high definition H.264 ts files from the Humax iHDR-5050C. The sound is not synchronously. The high definition video is very good now, without stuttering! See for a Humax iHDR-5050C H.264 file here (Humax 1.ts)
