YES! THANK YOU. I accidentally deleted my decoder when trying to free up some hard drive space and I'd already emptied my recycle bin D:
So easy to use! Just downloaded, unzipped, and opened WMP :-)

Have been running DScaler 5 for years.
Very smooth with Satellite DVB-S mpeg2 decompression.
I have installed the codec after looking at the reviews but to my surprise it did not work..i tried to play .vob files using wmp9,10 and 11 but it never played in any of the versions of wmp..i have winXP pro with sp2 installed..is there any settings to be done..could any of the people who rated it as 5 explain how it worked for them..
Use Windows Media Player Classic Home Cinema Which You Can Download On This Site. I Guarentee This Will Play. When Most People Say Media Player This Is What They Are Referring To, Not Microsoft Windows Media Player. Enjoy!

This will save you between $20-$40. People that create things like this are awsome. I bought a Brand new 512 MB Graphics Card from Nvidia and spent over $200 and they didnt even have thee' odasity to include a MPEG-2 Codec. What a bunch of losers. Two thumbs up to the coder's who developed this. Thank you so much.
Wes,
Had an old laptop which has a dvd-rom/cd writer, which refused to play dvds on Windows media player 9. Works at once after installation and no need for other redundant codecs to be installed. Fast and efficient!
OMG Best MPEG thing ever, it's free, it works first time, sound beautiful image is perfect. Honestly people don't search any more thing is what your looking for.
Tried this MPEG2 decoder with GB-PVR (PVRX2) and it works as well as the WinDVD decoder that I used on another machine. Thanks for making this decoder available to us low-budget people.
After hours spent trying to read DVD's with Windows Media Player, and having downloaded 2 or 3 softwares with no success at all, This one solved the problem in 1 minute !!!
It's really easy, fast, and you have nothing to do !
1) Download
2) Play your DVD with Windows Media Player.
That's all !!!
I would rate it 10 if I could
Why downloading tons of MBs for DVD playing software and decoders?
DScaler - einfach und schnell!
Perfect for fast results! Nothing is easier than DScaler. Very good!

I installed it and it ran as it is supposed to. An excellent product. I tried a couple of others prior to this one and had no success. Kudos to you on your work.
I have been using many codec packs and suddenly they all stopped working. Out of all the ones I kept on trying, this was the only one I could find that would make a DVD play on Windows Media Player 11 without a "video card to codec" error. Thanks!

I couldn't play DVDs with WMP 11 on Vista Business with this. It did however successfully play DVR-MS MPEG-2 files, so the codec is not entirely shot.
makes mpeg2 works in wmp11!!!Before only black and white flickers and audio.
K-lite codec pack didn't do that for me! instead k-lite messed up my xvid movies.
Highly recommended to those with mpeg2 woes.
Just wow!
I accidentally deleted my WinDVD player and I don't know where my recovery CDs are. Then I stumbled upon this excellent piece of software. Easy installation and instantly recognized by WMP and also by Video Decoder Checkup Utility.
The only minor minor issue I have is the volume is a bit low even after fiddling with all the controls. Maybe there's a setting I don't know.
Open software, way to go!!
Had a crash and had to reformat, so I lost my reliable, useful Acer Arcade and can't reinstall it. The Windows player is my only other immediate option for watching DVDs, but it wouldn't work, due to lack of a codec. Despite my lack of technical knowledge about this problem, all I had to do was download and unzip and install this codec, and the player IMMEDIATELY played my DVD movie, no problem, no skips, no jumpiness, no further effort on my part. So far, I'm pleased.
far and away the best freeware DVD decoder currently available. Twice as fast as the GPL one and without all the bugs of the Gabest one. If you're wondering which DVD filter to use stop looking and use this one.
Love it - I'm not technically inclined, but did read your reviews, and using it with WMP 11. Loaded right up and went to work, one unexpected pause when I first started it.
GREAT!! I can now play my TiVo mpeg 2 files in WMP 11 thanks to this and it looks just as good as the pay codecs!! Saved me money :)

I thought that maybe I was being a bit hard on DScaler in my previous post, so I have tried it again using XP professional with service pack 2 and WMP 9.00.00.3250 on the same computer. I downloaded Dscaler5008.exe again and this time it did allow DVDs to be played with WMP even though it was not detected by the Windows XP Video Decoder Checkup Utility. However, it's performance was inferior to that of nVIDIA Pure Video Decoder 1.2 which I am using with WMP9 on another partition on the same computer. The problem is the same as what I experienced with Media Player Classic - jerky movements. My CPU is a Cyrix C3, 1 Ghz which ought to be sufficient for playing DVDs. Maybe nVIDIA is better because some of the processing load is shared between the CPU and the graphics card.

Don't waste your time with this half baked amateur effort. It doesn't work with WMP9 and Windows 98SE. The Play menu should show a DVD option when Dscaler is installed and the Tools>Options>File types menu should include a check box for DVD video but neither of these was present.
The so called help file gives no information on troubleshooting, configuring or anything else that would interest anyone who is not a programmer. Would be users are expected to join their forum and discuss among themselves how to get it to work.
If this is an XP only codec why doen't they say so?
