VP4 4.0.20.25

Updated: 28 Jan 2004

The VP4 codec is known as the first codec to provide DVD-quality video at under 1Mbps.
Its revolutionary technology achieved full-screen and full-motion videos more than a decade ago.

Even if it has not been developed anymore since 2004, VP4 Codec can still be helpful for some users and its advantages are undeniable.

VP4 can be used with any VfW-compatible application which supports third-party codecs, such as VirtualDub, Cleaner and Adobe Premiere.

It ensures almost DVD quality with broadband data rates; its quality is similar to MPEG-2 while reducing 75% of the bandwidth and it offers near-VHS image quality at ISDN data rates, screen size of 320 x 240 and 24-30 fps. Due to its narrowband capabilities, VP4 ensures video streamed at dial-up rates of 192 x 144 pixels and 15-20 fps.

IMPORTANT!
- The codec is free for personal/non-commercial use. As a free product, On2 offers NO official technical or developer support for VP4 Personal. In addition, the software is offered without a warranty or guarantees of any kind.
