Suno, the AI music maker, can now speak as well as sing - but before you write your first bedtime story, check how many tracks your plan lets you download.

The new Speech feature turns a script into a spoken voice with original background music, mixed together as one track.
It opened as a public beta on October 1, on the web and in the Suno apps for iPhone and Android.
Making clips is easy - getting them onto your PC is where the limits start.
What Suno Speech Actually Does
You type the words, describe the voice you want (accent, tone, energy), then describe the music. Suno generates both at once, so a pause in the reading can land on a change in the music without any editing.
Suno's own examples include bedtime stories over soft piano, hype speeches over stadium drums and guided meditations. It runs on the same credits as song generation, and Suno has not announced separate pricing for it.
Beta quirks: Suno itself warns that accents can drift mid-sentence and that dramatic pauses may be very dramatic. There is no control yet over exact length or word timing.
The Download Cap You Will Hit
Since September 3, Suno limits how many tracks you can download, and the limit covers your whole library - including songs made before the change. Every track stays playable and shareable on Suno itself, so the cap only bites when you want the file.
| Plan | Downloads | File format | Commercial use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | Up to 7 trial downloads, ever (older accounts) | MP3 | No |
| Pro, $10 a month | 20 a month, no rollover | WAV on desktop, MP3 on mobile | Yes |
| Premier, $30 a month | 60 a month, unlimited inside Suno Studio | WAV on desktop, MP3 on mobile | Yes |
Suno has not said whether Speech clips are counted differently from songs. They sit in the same library, so plan as if each one uses a download.
The rights trap: anything you make on the free plan stays without commercial rights, even if you upgrade later. If a clip is meant for a paid podcast, an ad or a monetized video, make it on a paid plan from the start.
How to Get the Most From Each Download
Re-downloading a track you already took does not cost another download, and one track counts once whatever format you pick. So on a paid plan, grab the WAV from the desktop site - it is the full-quality master, and you can make smaller copies from it later for free.
To turn that WAV into an MP3 for your phone, our free online audio converter does it in the browser. Your file never leaves your device, which is handy for a voice message you would rather keep private.
Want to trim those very dramatic pauses, cut a line, or boost the voice? Audacity is free and opens the file straight away. Its Truncate Silence effect shortens long gaps in one go, and MP3 export is built in.
Who Should Skip It for Now
If you need exact timing - a voiceover that has to fit a 30-second video, say - the beta cannot promise it yet. The same goes for anyone on the free plan who wants more than a handful of files, because the downloads run out long before the credits do.
Curious how AI handles voices on the other end, squeezing speech into tiny files instead of creating it? Our explainer on Lyra and EnCodec covers the AI codecs doing exactly that.
Quick questions
Is Suno Speech free?
You can try it on the free plan using your daily credits. Downloading the result is the limited part - free accounts get only a few trial downloads, MP3 only and with no commercial rights.
When did Suno Speech launch?
Suno opened the Speech beta to everyone on October 1, 2026, on the web and in its mobile apps, after about a month of closed testing.
How many songs can I download from Suno?
Since September 3, 2026: up to 7 lifetime trial downloads on the free plan, 20 a month on Pro and 60 a month on Premier. Re-downloading a track you already downloaded is free.
Can I download Suno tracks as WAV?
Yes, on Pro and Premier from the desktop site. The mobile apps and the free plan give you MP3.
Can I separate the voice from the music?
Speech gives you one mixed track. Suno sells stem splitting on its paid plans, but it has not said whether that works on Speech clips yet.
Can I use Suno Speech clips on YouTube?
Only clips made on a paid plan come with commercial rights. Clips made on the free plan do not, and upgrading later does not change that.
