Windows 11 Update Brings Better Streaming with AV1 Codec

The recent 24H2 update for Windows 11 adds support for the AV1 codec via WDDM 3.2, enhancing video streaming quality and reducing data requirements.

This integration in Direct3D 12 (D3D12) allows GPUs to manage AV1 encoding more efficiently, offering smoother playback, lower latency, and reduced buffering, even in high-definition streams. 

Ideal for media-heavy tasks like gaming, 4K streaming, and video conferencing, the AV1 codec also benefits cloud applications by offloading encoding tasks to GPUs for faster processing.
