The developer of DS-MP3 Source Filter built this piece of software as a reaction to the unreliable MPEG-1 Splitter provided by Microsoft.
MP3 files containing pictures within ID3v2 tags and wrong MPEG headers could not connect to the MPEG-1 Splitter.
The DS-MP3 Source Filter replaces three different filters and it is able to play the types of files that were usually causing errors.
This tool has been designed only for MP3 files. Its last version was released in 2005.
