PotPlayer 25.3.13 / 25.4.17 beta
-> Poor Internet Video Handling and Bandwidth Usage:
PotPlayer struggles to process internet videos efficiently. Recently, its ability to play YouTube URLs has become unreliable, often resulting in errors or endless refreshing, even after reinstalling or downgrading the software. Compared to dedicated tools like TubeDigger, VideoGet, Allavsoft Downloader, or MediaHuman Downloader, PotPlayer is far less consistent for online video playback.
Moreover, PotPlayer appears to consume significantly more bandwidth when streaming compared to alternatives. This inefficiency is particularly frustrating when other software can deliver the same content with less data usage.
-> Limited Add-ons and Missing Video Features:-
PotPlayer’s ecosystem for add-ons is notably sparse. Unlike media players such as KMPlayer or VLC, which offer a wide range of extensions and plugins, PotPlayer provides very few options for expanding its functionality. This lack of add-ons means fewer ways to customize or enhance the playback experience.
PotPlayer has a lot of missing features, such as:
- Built-in video downloading tools (like KMPlayer’s YouTube streaming and download feature)
- Advanced subtitle search and management
- Integrated media library and management
- Blu-ray playback support (which PotPlayer lacks, but PowerDVD and KMPlayer offer)
- Screencasting or streaming to other devices

PotPlayer 1.7.21202 beta
Nice full-blown media player. The TON of config settings can be overwhelming, but everything needed works well.
Wish check for update included beta versions. Decline the PUP! (a star off for that archaic inclusion)

PotPlayer 1.7.21190 beta
For new users: PotPlayer is an excellent multimedia player for Windows, DirectShow based.
The player was originally made with the code of the great MPC player by a very good korean developer, but as now (2020) PotPlayer has a stable development while MPC-HC is in maintenance mode, with just some small bug fixes.
Respect to MPC-HC or MPC-BE the korean player has much more settings and functions, faster and more precise seeking, timeline preview like YouTube that works very well, much better than MPC-BE.
The streaming of Internet videos is more reliable than MPC-HC or MPC-BE because PotPlayer by default use its own splitter and audio-video decoders. They're FFMPEG based like LAV Filters. But LAV filters are more optimized for disk content, not streaming.
Attention: as for April 2020 PotPlayer try to install unwanted PUP program during the set-up, but You can (and should) just click on ''Refuse' and everything is fine.

PotPlayer 1.7.21188 beta
PotPlayer is one of the best media players available today.
Yes, it does suffer a bit from feature overload and settings mess (some are even darn confusing), but it is definitely full-featured and offers many nice perks other players do not.
Just be sure to not install the PUP included in the installer!

PotPlayer 1.7.21151
Generally good player, but man does it have configuration overload.
Also takes a lot of disk space compared to, say, the fully equivalent MPC-BE.
Bundling a PUP in the installer is a drawback!

PotPlayer 1.6.59929 beta
An amazing player, less known than VLC or MPC but I've discovered it recently and I find it fantastic.
A lot of possibilities : I play for example DVD's directly from a player (on the PC), I upscale it to 1920x1080, I use the wonderful software DimtriRender to have smooth and beautiful pictures at 60fps.
I use LAV filtes in combination with MadVR. The result is much better than many expensive players you can find. You can adjust and what I want as I want and have access to many many features. Ideal to of course with Blu-ray or film in FullHD.
I do recommend PotPlayer: try it!
