No longer developed

K-Lite Codec Pack 64-bit is no longer updated by its developer - the last version here is from 2013. It may still run, but it gets no fixes for newer Windows versions or formats.

Maintained alternatives that may do the same job:

K-Lite Codec Pack 64-bit was the separate 64-bit edition of the K-Lite family, and it stopped in 2013 at version 9.9.9 beta.

You do not need it any more, because every current K-Lite pack installs 32-bit and 64-bit codecs together.

The old installer is still here for archive use, but on Windows 10 or 11 the current pack is the right download.

What K-Lite Codec Pack 64-bit Actually Was

When 64-bit Windows was new, most players and codecs were 32-bit only. This pack filled the gap with 64-bit versions of the decoders, splitters and tools that 64-bit players needed.

Its last build bundled LAV Filters, ffdshow, AC3Filter, Haali Media Splitter, DirectVobSub, Lagarith, GraphStudioNext, Win7DSFilterTweaker and Icaros. Several of those have since been dropped from the current packs too.

It ran on 64-bit Windows XP, Server 2003, Windows 7 and Windows 8.

Why It Stopped

Once the regular K-Lite Codec Pack started shipping both 32-bit and 64-bit codecs in one installer, a separate 64-bit package had no job left.

The current K-Lite release, 20.1.4, does everything this pack did and supports formats that did not exist in 2013, such as AV1 and the latest HEVC and Dolby Vision content.

Do not install it next to a current pack. Mixing 2013 filters with today's ones is a classic cause of playback problems that are hard to track down. If you have it installed, remove it before installing anything newer.

What to Install Instead

Pick the K-Lite edition that matches how much you want:

Basic - just the essential codecs, for the player you already use.
Standard - adds the MPC-HC player. The right choice for most people.
Full - adds the madVR renderer for high-quality scaling.
Mega - adds extra codecs and tools for editing and encoding.

Prefer a different pack? X Codec Pack is built only for 64-bit Windows 10 and 11, and plain LAV Filters gives you the same decoding engine with nothing extra.

Or skip codec packs altogether: VLC Media Player and MPC-BE are 64-bit players with their own decoders built in.

Already Have It Installed?

Uninstall it. Open Settings, then Apps, find K-Lite Codec Pack 64-bit and remove it.
Clean up leftovers. The Codec Tweak Tool finds broken or duplicate codec entries the uninstaller missed.
Install one current pack. Standard is the safe default. Do not stack several packs on top of each other.

The One Case Left for the Old Installer

If you maintain a genuinely old 64-bit machine - Windows XP x64 or an early Windows 7 install that cannot take a current pack - the original 11.8 MB installer is kept below, unchanged.

Treat it as an archive copy, not a fix. On anything newer, it causes more trouble than it solves.

Is K-Lite Codec Pack 64-bit still available?

Only as an archive copy. It was discontinued in 2013 at version 9.9.9 beta, and the regular K-Lite packs now include the 64-bit codecs.

Does the normal K-Lite Codec Pack work on 64-bit Windows?

Yes. Every current edition installs both 32-bit and 64-bit codecs, so 32-bit and 64-bit players both work.

Can I install it on Windows 10 or 11?

You should not. It was made for Windows XP to 8, and its 2013 filters conflict with modern ones. Install the current K-Lite Standard instead.

Which K-Lite edition should I choose?

Standard suits most people. Choose Basic if you already have a player you like, and Full or Mega only if you need madVR or editing tools.

How do I remove the old 64-bit pack?

Uninstall it from Settings, then Apps, and run the Codec Tweak Tool to clear any leftover entries before installing a current pack.

Why there is no support for MPEG2 in hardware in practice, theoretically I see it internal filters but when I reproduce a DVD the DXVA is not used, this has been going on for ever, when are you gonna fix this?

SOme MPEG4 video won't be accelerated with UVD2 or DXVA even when I configure FFDSHOW filter to skip all compatibility checks so it can accelerate all MGPE4 videos.

how about using both 64bit & 32bit just install 32bit & restart after that install 64bit,
Q: advance configs ?
A: depends on how 32bit worked on ur pc & how 64bit works.
i've just installed them adding all options to max
& thumbnail preview with poth 32bit & 64bit, WMP crashed a bit which happen while switching to another video but their was no serious errors besides it was pretty fast & for now it works on fine on mine, well its up to u to decide....id prefer it if the PC pro bro's out there could give me a heads-up :)
