No longer developed
WinAVI Video Converter is no longer updated by its developer - the last version here is from 2012. It may still run, but it gets no fixes for newer Windows versions or formats.
Maintained alternatives that may do the same job:
The formats supported by WinAVI Video Converter are AVI, MPEG 1, 2 and 4, VCD, SVCD, DVD, DivX, XVid, ASF, WMV, RM, QuickTime MOV, Flash SWF and many others.
The burning tool makes it possible to convert AVI to VCD, SVCD or DVD and create your own discs; it takes just 1 hour to burn a DVD.
The conversion speed is fast, too. Converting a video to DVD takes 90 minutes; to SVCD, 60 minutes, and to VCD, it takes just 30 minutes.
All video formats can be easily converted to MPEG, VCD, SVCD, DVD, AVI, DivX, XVid, RM, ASF and WMV. You can watch the video during conversion due to the real-time and non real-time preview options.
There is also an auto shutdown feature which can be activated, so the system shuts down when conversion is completed.
Other features of this software tool are the Real Dolby AC3 audio encoder, the Real DVD Navigator encoder, the DirectAC3 technology, the support provided for the AC3 5.1 channels and a speed of up to 20% for AVI files which include AC3 audio.
Advanced users can make changes in the encoder’s settings, and adjust the video and the audio tracks of the output file. Furthermore, you can add subtitles to the video files you create, using formats such as SRT, SSA and ASS.
WinAVI Video Converter has a series of advantages which recommend it to any user who downloads video from the Internet: easiness of use, the good quality of output files, the fast conversion time and its advanced options.
