v2011.build.47 (March 12, 2011) is an EXCELLENT program.
encodes flawlessly my VOB files to MP4 and my AVIs to WebM for web streaming.

No freeware around except SUPER! this is the advantage.
No fully converter except SUPER! this is the advantage.
Clear to use interface, but not friendly.

Compare to others, it is one of the best "copyleft" player and converter, although the interface is a bit annoying.

Entirely, one can puts it as a choice.

Kludgy interface, difficult to use right click menu, annoying tool popup that stays in front of your cursor when working with input files.

To make matters worse, and I can't see how anyone missed this, there is no way to switch the output between PAL and NTSC in AVI output files. Not one video editing package I tried would load the videos, all said, they are in PAL format.

Wow. 8 wasted hours, 6 futile attempts at getting high dollar commercial programs to work, and 4 brain-numbing tutorials later, and right here under my nose is the easiest, fastest and intuitive converter around!

It worked flawlessly the very first time, the pop-up help boxes were thorough, informative and wonderfully anticipatory. I am a vid-iot, clueless, but even I got through the whole install and conversion of a file in under 7 minutes.

Why is no one saying anything about the Trojan this new version includes?

Their Virus software must not be working. Every site I downloaded this version from has the Trojan. So the developer has included it intentionally.

Back to the old version for me. By the way, Mencoder.exe has the Trojan.

So the interface is ugly--but who cares? The tool tips are helpful, even if cluttered. Deal w/ it :).

this is an example on how a program doesn't have to be designed. the interface is really horrible and i tested some conversions. the settings were badly chosen by the program and gave nothing but very larger files...

Interface is horrible. Looks bad and cramped. Excellent functionality. Conversions of every format works perfectly. Uses ffdshow based encoders.

Note: connection out attempt is a check for new version, not malware.

i was over the moon to see what is on offer...downloads and installs ok

first gripe, myfirewall picked up an attempt to connect out, if you deny it it freezes and does not start at all.

decided to allow it, just maybe it will do what it says...

program starts, horribly oversized tooltips instantly get in the way of reading what is on the buttons in the first place...

and finally, cannot convert the ram files, as streams or saved files with the different options checked and unchecked as instructed by the help engine.

I did try to convert a wma and a mp3, that worked, but every other program can do this aswell,

AMAZING!!! Find me something that it does not do!!
