The most important features of this combined frame size are: calculating frame size according to given aspect ratio; calculating aspect ratio according to given frame size; evaluating aspect errors, checking frame size for compliance with codec (for instance, the application ensures that the frame height and width is multiple of 4, 16, etc.); calculating AVI video bitrate, size and bits/pixel value and automatically calculating frame size.
Furthermore, Aspect is able to evaluate interleave overhead for legacy; it accesses unencrypted VOB, MPEG2, PNG and BMP files; it provides users with frame previews; it adjusts aspect ratio for cropped movies and it retrieves video resolution, aspect ratio and FPS from supported video files.
Aspect has not been developed anymore since 2006,
and its last version, 2.1, included multiple improvements, such as Avisynth script generation, a new autocrop function, dgindex project files support (extension d2V) and duration retrieval from video files.
The last version also benefits from an updated documentation, cosmetic changes and using bilinear resize filer as default for AVS scripts.
Aspect is easy to install and it has a clean, intuitive interface but it is rather recommended to advanced users who are interested in technical specifications of video files and know how to use a video bitrate calculator.
Aspect is considered one of the best calculators.
