I was a devot follower for months. Then the pack started failing. K-Lite Mega Codec Pack is called Mega or a reason. Whoever is putting this package together, thank you for working so hard on updating it. Though i do ask just one thing. DO NOT GIVE IN TO REMOVING CODECS. Unless the companies say they'll sue you, then i guess then take them out. Other wise tell them tough luck. For now how about calling the Mega pack K-Lite Stripped Codec Pack. But then im sure Christina Aguilera would get all pissy for the Stripped part...

I originally commented on the Updated 1.59 version saying how great this codec pack is.

Well now, the pack is failing miserably. This was the ultimate codec pack, which blew every other one away, now it's been slimmed down so much a lot of its functionality has been taken away. I won't be surprised if pretty soon it becomes so limited you need other codec packs installed to get the functionality of what the K-Lite Mega Codec pack was.

I'll probably start to find another codec pack in the near future, what a shame.

What if the people from RealMedia come with a similar threat/request? And the sellers of the DVD codecs included in K-Lite? I'm sure the DivX company is not too thrilled about having their codec inside a pack either.

Giving in to requests to remove codecs leads to a very slippery slope.

I read that codec-packages might give you big problems later on so I only install
what I need for the moment. The K-Lite pack however seems better than others.
Quicktime Alternative missing in this package? Well, I always had some problem
when using Real Alternative and Quicktime Alternative together so I've been using
Real Alternative only and the... real Quicktime. Since I almost never watch Quicktime or Real movies, they are there just in case. This time I'll download the K-Lite
Mega Codec Pack 2.25 and I hope it will fix some broken codecs reported by
Sherlock - The Codec Detective. Let's see... Now where's the original K-lite site??
Before I found you, I thought that "Het Edskes" was the place. LOL. Since their
version is 2.10 only, I'll keep codec.com in my favs. Thanks! :)

All hail K-Lite!!

My older .wav files wouldn't play and serveral .avi's. I tried uninstalling, reinstalling, and individually installing and uninstalling both DivX and Xvid packages many times. I even did the same with several versions of Windows Media Player. I can't tell you how much time I spent on this including searching for answers online. After unstalling the other codec packs K-Lite had everything working in one fell swoop.

Way to go K-Lite!

I am using VISTA ULTIMATE and almost everything works great...
i just have one question:
does anyone knows why programs like "windows dvd maker" stops working with videos? when i try to use it with photos it works just fine, but with videos it doesn't...
this hapened after i instaled these codecs

Rubens, to your post... I had the EXACT same problem. It was never a problem in XP HOWEVER, when I installed XP Media Center 2005 it started. Then my on board sound wouldn't work in Vista, although it claimed the driver was installed, can't remember if I ever solved that problem. so I went out and bought a 30 dollar creative sound card that had vista 64 drivers.

PS. fry's $uck$. they only have like 4 computers in the whole store that are on the internet... the freakin sales men, when I asked them to go on the internet to give me an answer they didn't know, "we don't have internet connection here" as he is standing in front of about 100 computers on display... or rather, because of their lack of internet, bricks on display. A cashier recommending the repair desk just to see if creative had vista 64 drivers out... gd**n

I've been using K Lite for years upon years and it has always been the best.

After installing 2.01 version of codec pack now I can't play any of the movies. What is happening is that, I can only hear the sound but not video.

This thing was not happening with 1.61 version.

Can anyone tell me which option is needed to be checked so that my problem gets solved.

I am really disappointed because even after uninstalling it, I am stuck with no video but yes sound. :-(

Ok, so I decided to install this and it did not resolve my problem with low sound in a lot of video formats. I've tried adjusting various settings in the AC3 filter, which hasn't done much.

Any ideas on how I can increase the volume? I'm running Windows Vista.

Good codec pack.

Im still a little shocked that despite paying for Vista im stilling having to download these kind of codec packs so that I can have sound on certain DivX movies.

Nicely done K-Lite maybe you should send a copy to Microsoft to show them its not just a fantasy that people have.

I haven't installed this yet, and I've always had good success with previous versions. I am now running Vista which pretty much plays all the videos I need. My only real reason for installing this is to improve the really low sound some of my videos have. Any idea if this pack will correct this? I am currently running the AC3Filter v1.03b audio pack.

Ran 1.70. The Media Player Classic is nice (it always is), but it made my movies freeze (unsure whether it's the codecs or the revised MPC)
(Made a DVD coaster - but I guess it is my own fault for burning a DVD while watching a movie with your codecs *grr*)

I hope it has been fixed in this release.

well i have problems whit Medi Player Classic i cant play AVI files whit it it says that cannot render the file but i can play the file in the Windows Media Player ...,oh and can the programer add a Mpg 1/2 Decoder i can not convert MPG files any more whit it ,it says divisyon by zero ... ,oh and sorry for my english im a romanian :D ,pls fix ... please :D
