True Audio Encoder (TTA) is an application allowing you to convert your music to a lossless format called True Audio and having the TTA file extension.
Lossless conversion means that sound quality is preserved without losing data and that the uncompressed file will be identical to the original.
TTA is based on adaptive prognostic filters and it offers its users a variety of advantages:
- minimal system requirements, DirectShow technology support, compression to as little as 30% of the original file size, open source and free code and documentation and a graphical user interface for Windows users, among many others.
By using this encoder, you can store about 20 audio CDs on just one single DVD-R keeping all CD and tag information.
This encoder performs lossless compression on multichannel 8, 16 and 24 bit data and it uses uncompressed WAV files as input. Decompressed files are bit-identical to originals. Moreover, the TTA format offers support for ID3v1, ID3v2 and APEv2 tags.
Other features of the True Audio Encoder are CRC checking, corrupted data decoding, high compression performance, high speed performance, supporting Unicode file names and delivering output files with precalculated seek points table.
The last version of True Audio Encoder, 3.4.1, was launched several years ago and it was improved with added support for standard input and output interface, having removed the 320bit floating-point data support, updated optimization options for gcc compiler in Makefile and a code cleanup.
Similar to FLAC and APE, TTA is another professional lossless compression standard that you can use for free.
The True Audio Encoder helps you reduce the size of your music collection at a rate varying between 30% and 70% while preserving excellent sound quality.
