Viewing and editing music files tags directly in Windows Explorer becomes possible with the AudioShell plugin.
AudioShell supports the most popular audio file formats, such as MP3, MP4, M4A, WMA, APE, FLAC and OGG.
This application adds tag editor and viewer tabs to the properties pages of music files.
Tags can be edited file by file or in groups. Additional columns will appear in the Explorer files list, too.
The supported files and tags formats are MP3 (all ID3 tag versions), Windows Media (WMA, WMV and ASF), OGG and FLAC (Vorbis comment tags), Apple iTunes AAC files, MPC, MP+, Monkey’s Audio, Wav Pack, Optim Frog, True Audio (APE and APEv2 tags), WAV (ID3v2.3 tag) and DSF (ID3v2.3 tag).
AudioShell eliminates the need for complex and demanding tag editing programs.
After installing this plugin, you just need to place the cursor on a file having one of the supported extensions and you will view tag information such as title, album, artist, year, track number, cover and genre.
Audio properties are displayed, too, and you will be able to find out the duration, the bit rate, the size of the track and the encoder used.
AudioShell helps you avoid the additional weight of specialized audio tags programs. This plugin needs a small amount of system resources and it functions error-free.
AudioShell runs on all Windows versions and it is constantly updated. The last versions included writing support to AudioShell properties handler (editing tag fields directly in Windows Explorer) and fully rewritten software for Windows Vista, 7 and 8 (32 and 64-bit versions).
AudioShell was created with convenience and easiness of use in mind. By using this plugin, viewing and editing tags out of hand become much easier and fast since you don’t have to use a standalone application.
