MSU Lossless Video Codec performs lossless video compression and provides users with a variety of advanced editing options.
MSU Lossless Video Codec allows you to use different compression levels, form low to high.
The low compression mode provides the highest image quality and the smallest compression ratio.
No data is lost and the file resulting after decompression is identical with the original one.
The next compression level is medium and unlike the previous, it uses the YUY2 color space. The medium compression level provides better compression ratio and a good quality image (visually lossless compression).
No matter what color space the input data has (RGB or YUY2), the output is always YUY2. Encoding files at the medium compression level can even improve image quality, because noise is eliminated.
The high compression mode offers even better compression ratio and a high image quality. In some cases, image quality increases too because the application performs strong denoising.
For those power users looking to adjust compression and quality parameters on their own, there is an Advanced separate window where they can change denoising options.
Other features available with the MSU Lossless Video Codec are temporal denoising and spatial denoising. Temporal denoising works with positive integer numbers and controls the temporal aspect of denoising. The parameter can vary between 30 and -50, from Good compression to High compression. Parameters for spatial denoising vary between 4 and -20 and they are expressed by positive real numbers. Another option you can apply is the compressing interlaced movie feature, for interlaced sequences and which can improve compression in some cases.
The MSU Lossless Video Codec allows you to control precisely the encoding process and adjust denoising in order to obtain the best compression ratio and even improve image quality.
