Koepi's XviD Codec is a pack of tools for decoding and encoding MPEG-4 video files.
It's a codec similar but superior to DivX, and used in most recent movies. XviD is one of the best solutions for MPEG-4 videos.
Weighing less than 1MB, Koepi's XviD Codec decodes your XviD videos so you can play them on any computer and using any media player.
During installation, you are offered the possibility to customize Koepi's XviD Codec; these options include film effects, flipping, aspect ratio and so on.
Additionally, you can enable or disable support for DivX, DX50 and MP4V formats, in case you want the application to decode those formats, too.
The main advantages provided by Koepi's XviD Codec are PMVFast and EPZS with diamond and square pattern motion estimation, fullpixell and halfpixel, precision, adaptive quantization / Luminance masking, I and P Frame encoding, inter4v mode, both MPEG4 and H263 quantization and custom quant matrices.
The latest releases of Koepi's XviD Codec have focused on optimizing installation process. Thus, a new sub-directory "Advanced" has been added, and you will notice a new tool, Xvid MiniConvert, which converts playable content to Xvid with MP3 audio in AVI containers.
Moreover, if you have ever dealt with incompatibility issues, you will notice that the new Xvid installer prevents the following problem: DivX installers deploying their own AVI and limited MKV splitters and disabling other splitters for these formats; consequently, many files were not decoded properly. It is not the case anymore with Koepi's XviD Codec.
After deploying this small-sized application to your computer, you will definitely be able to play XviD based videos, no matter what media player you prefer. Enjoy better quality and avoid annoying incompatibilities by taking a couple of minutes to install Koepi's XviD Codec.
Changes in XviD 1.3.2 [30.05.2011] :
- It is mainly a bugfix release mainly for non-x86 and Unix users. But also, for the Windows users the new installer has some interesting features. In new installations, the tiny encoder xvid_encraw will be put into a new sub-directory "Advanced". For the ease-of-use, a new tool is included as well - Xvid MiniConvert. It will take most playable content and convert it to Xvid with MP3 audio in .avi containers.
- The installer also fixes a small annoyance which the DivX installer causes - it installs its own .avi and limited .mkv splitter and disables other splitters for these formats. This leads to the situation that many files can't be decoded properly. The situation is even worse on x64 systems, where that splitter is registered but totally missing. The new Xvid installer fixes this issue.
[important]- It solves the xvidcore.dll not found error.[/important]
