i used ACE Mega Codecs Pack but at some point i was getting errors from it. Now i use K-Lite Mega Codecs Pack and i have no problems with it. it runs super nice !!

very good codec..
but i got problem when try to view my divx vids, at my windows explorer, in thumbnail view..
error with divx.ax and cpu not supported in log file,
i use amd mp.

i uninstalled your mega codec on recomendation of roxio copy&convert it advised downloading divx,after getting halfway through converting several music videos and stops working,error with divx,i have uninstalled divx,and reinstalled the mega pack,this is fantastic,windows tried stopping the download,but overrode it!every film etc goes into the media player,it does not like some,but this can be controlled by advance settings in the options,great stuff,shame windows cannot help,they prefer to try and sell to you,not happy with you buying the computer off them,thanks k lite team and a merry xmas to all,eric..

i just downloaded the k-lite mega codec pack ver 3.6.2. and it causes an error on explorer when i open a folder with a .rmvb file, it somehow tries to show the file thumbnail (i guess) ... what's is happening?

This is the most Excellent Codec pack I 've eve use. However, since the 3.3 update, I have been experienced broken sound and discontinue video frames(sometime it only have 18-19 frame I guessed) or the Video and audio wouldn't synchronize when I play the MKV file on WMP 11. Is there any way to fix this??

Answer: A solution for this problem is to use an older version of DirectVobSub. You need to install version 2.33.

Note from me: DirectVobSub 2.33 is also included in the pack. During installation you can choose between 2.38 and 2.33.

Yeah, it was the FFVShow problem on Windows Media Player, I changed the audio decoder and it fixed,

now i have another problem want to ask
this problem was found very early before until now.. because it wasnt so important and i didnt ask for it, if you know why, tell me, thanks.. :)

the Direct Vob Sub, which is auto launch when you start and play a video with subtitle file together (same name as video file), it plays video with subtitle automatically,

my problem:
when i play some of videos in avi format, the direct vob sub doesnt work, it launched but the video doesnt play, unless i took away the subtitle file from that folder or change the subtitle name...

if got a video have the problem, i can only use FFAShow to load the subtitle...

do you know why ?

@purple, They won't add QuickTime back, so stop whining about it. Just install QT Lite, which is from the same makers as K-Lite.

@squall0833, I have compared 3.4.3 with 3.4.5 and I am pretty sure your problem is somehow related to ffdshow. K-Lite allows you to choose between 3 AAC audio decoders. Does the problem go away if you select a different one?

d**n right! what is so mega about this codec pack if you removed all things that make it MEGA?

Sorry, I was wrong,it wasnt 3.3.0, K-Lite Mega Codec pack 3.4.3 or ealier version all working perfect to me, I've tried just now by reinstall back 3.4.3 all perfect!

But i install back 3.4.5-3.5.3, the problem come back, as i said, some of mkv h264 file only video shown, audio is breaking noise in windows media player, and works well in media player classic..

Not only this problem, during play any format video file, i have lagness on dragging timeline, sometime cause the video playback stuck or malfunction. but 3.4.3 or ealier version doesnt have this problem,

I really dont know how to check detail for my mkv file. this is what i found..

Type: KLCP.Matroska
Resolution 1280x720
Video: MPEG4 Video (H264) 1280x720 23.98fps [Video]
Audio: AAC 96000Hz stereo [Audio]

The detail above i found in MPC, if u have any idea to check my mkv video/audio codec type, please tell me.. thanks

@squall0833, what kind of audio do those files have? I could be a bug in WMP.

@Alvin & Ken, I have never heard of .scm files before. So they are not common. I could not find a codec for it, so I doubt they can add support for it to the pack.

@Vassilis X, install "QT Lite 2.1.0" if you want a browser plugin for QuickTime.

@M, disabling "AVI splitter (gabest)" with the Codec Tweak Tool might solve it.

It freezes when I try to move from a point to another specially with AVI. I did not have this problem with 3.4.5 and it's also slower than 3.4.5. Hope this there will be a new release soon with these problems fixed. Thank you for the great app.

i'm having some problems playing WMV files on this version and on older version, you sure that isn't any bug.... Peace

@J, dxdec.ax is a old divx decoder that is installed by powerdvd. Remove the file.

@Geo, the installer will prompt you when it is adviced to uninstall first. Otherwise you can safely install on top.

One question... if I have installed a prior version, like 2.25, and I want to update to the newest version, like 3.4.5, what's the procedure?

Must I un-install anything, or just install new on top of the existing old one?

I downloaded the newest version, but it doesnt include a popular file type called scm. Which I hope it can be added as well.

Works great on Vista. Installs smoothly even with UAC turned on.

Make sure to read the included FAQ if you got a problem. It contains lots of helpful information.

A lot of problems can be solved by updating your graphics drivers. Some NVIDIA drivers are really bad.

Thanks for the info INFORMER! sometimes this player works really weird. Sometimes when i installed.. everythg is fine.. sometimes cant play the codecs.. after install the quicktime alternatives i still can't open quicktime files and i found out that the registration boxes are empty.. but sometimes when i installed there are filled up. sigh..

With Windows Vista you have to right click on the downloaded file and choose "Run as Administrator". Then it will install the files in the right place and everything works fine.

Sooner or later the devlopers will get used to the Vista API and ask for administrator permission before installing.

I got some issue with the sound.

It sounds very weak with Media player classic compared to other players as WMP or Gom player.

Does anyone got the same issue ?

i installed lots of stuff from Klmega codec pack... but MPC is not playing asf files

It has always been excellent when using it in XP but now i'm facing problem using it in Vista. It doesnt work at all in my new vista.. not even a avi compressed file. Please help!

It is excellent, but one problem: VobSub version 3.37 creates problem in windows media player for Mpeg files. Can programmers add older version of vobsub, as that was fine

Just two wishes :

1) do keep Quicktime alternative ( at least its old version ) in K-Lite Mega Codec Pack


2) give final versions of codecs included

can sometime tell me what im doing wrong the mpc dont seem to be working properly for me anymore when im flicking through video files, it seems to freeze up..so if anyone could help itd be appreciated..

it was 5 out of 5 but now with removing Quicktime Alt 1 still too much.

K-Lite Mega Codec Pack is awesome, but I have a stupid question, does it let you play DVD without a DVD player?

All right, i'm huge a fan of K Lite Mega Codec Pack but this version has a major problem : the custom version of Media Player CLassic.
The WMR9 Rendere is absolutely terrible on Vista with this new version (and it wasn't on previous version) and the new filter added specifically for Vista disable the major parts of advanced functions in the player.
So I've reinstall Media Player Classic 6.4.9.0b french version which is a little slower but it's lookable now.
So I highly recommend to use previous version of MPC in the future release, even if the pack is still great itself.

I gave a 4 out of 5. I would have gave a 5 out of 5.
But come on guys, one of the reasons that everyone love your codec it is cause you made everything in one small package. No need huge individual software to play different videos or audios.

One of the main reasons I took is Realplayer and Quicktime. Pretty most popular ones that is on the net for playing movies and so on.

And everything else that come with it, it is extra sugar. The best!!!!

But when you start removing codecs like Quicktime you basically removing the core of MEGA CODEC. Just does not make sense, alternative quicktime is on the web page to download separate..why don't you just blend the d**n thing into your MEGA codec and just leave it. It you guys start separating certain codec from the MEGA codec then you guys basically have NO MEGA KLITE codec.

And for people that does not LIKE certain codec very simple, CHECK MARK OFF and it wont install.

Come on guys!!! head shake here. A bit piss!

I've been using Mega for long time and I gave it 5. The only problem I have with it is MPC which lacks skip-forward/backward buttons.
But, now that QT is removed, I don't see the point of Mega. Should we use Full + QTA + RTA?

now, pls continue to evolve along that one-stop strategy. it's this very convenient completeness + the quick 'n' easy way to install all of it, which set you apart, and made your pack such a unique offering for us.

or should, in these days of expanding bandwidth the installer package's size difference of a few MB really matter above every other concern??

maybe am forgetting any legal issues here, cuz all but that would beg to put back all these MPEG + QT "stuffs" etc.
