I've been using K-Lite Mega Codec Pack for a couple of years and I couldn't be more satisfied.

But since I installed the lates version I don't seem to be able to play dual audio anymore. It will only play the default track.

Any sugestions?

This is the wrong place for reporting bugs. You should report them at the CodecGuide website.

Bink and Smacker will not be supported because of licensing issues. Get "RAD Game Tools Splitter" if you want to play such files.

VBR stands for Variable BitRate. There is no fixed bitrate in such files. You also did not mention which properties tab you looked at. The decoders or from a player? If you are using WMP, you should complain to Microsoft.

you encouraged after installing to post bugs or problems and not to wait until someone else do it.

Please make Klite compatible with bink and smacker movies.

There ist a problem with mp3 encoded in vbr. The properties tab reports a wrong bitrate.

Playing flv-files with h264 and aac audio is a problem. When playing it looks like the video stops for a millisecond. The time is reported wrong. But when played with the adobe media player it plays fine; time is correct.

Would be cool if you can fix it.

In this version the internal subtitle filter of Media Player Classic is used by default instead of DirectVobSub. You can find the relevant subtitle options for changing the font size inside MPC options.

If you want to disable the internal subtitle filter, then go to MPC Options -> Player -> uncheck "auto-load subtitles".

Your problem is caused by the Roxio software that you have on your computer.
Enabling the internal MPEG source filter in Media Player Classic should work around the problem.
But best would be to remove the bad Roxio software.

No matter how I change the font in DirectVobSub, It remains the same and there is no longer the green arrow in the task bar. Is there a way to solve this?

K-Lite Mega Codec Pack 4.6.2
I installed mega 462 and when I click on a .mpg it will freeze for 2 seconds and come up with a blue screen of death. The first time I got a reference to roxio cineplayer. Had to uninstall and go back to version 445. Thanks

There is a problem in displaying some of the .avi and H264 file with this new version of codec. :(

foreign subtitle does not show on Windows 7.

At last, the line at the bottom of the screen while playing is fixed with this new 4.5.3 version. Thank you provider .. :)

Great codec but some bug still are not fixed. Those .avi, .H264, and other file have some line at the bottom of the screen. I believe this only happen with this new version and the last previous version. Using the other player like media player, there's no weird line detected. Anyway, thanks for providing it for free. :)

I found a problem in the recent versions up to current with getting an error "Incorrect BASS.DLL version (2.3 is required)" when playing *.aac files only (playback is OK once you dismiss the error message).
The library for bass_flac.dll is version 2.3 and needs to be updated to 2.4 to work with aac files.

All versions since 3.95 have worked fine for me; in this version a problem with Media Player Classic - takes too long to start or doesn't start at all (with FLV or AVI files)

The included build of Media Player Classic is actually quite recent. It comes from another fork called 'Guliverkli2'. All security vulnerabilities that are listed at Secunia were already fixed long ago in both forks. So it is the Secunia tool that is outdated.

MPC-HC still has a few stability issues. Once those are fixed, I suspect that it will eventually be included in the codec pack.

I have found the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack to be useful and excellent - with one caveat.

It seems that the version of "Media Player Classic" included with the package is rather old. The Secunia PSI utility (Personal Software Inspector) flags it as obsolete and a security risk. There IS a simple fix, however. An MPC fork named "Media Player Classic-HomeCinema" can be substituted, works fine, and Secunia PSI is happy with it. The MPC-HC package is available via


The player included in K-Lite is "Media Player Classic" -- go ahead and install it, but then:

* Extract the second file "mplayerc_homecinema_x86_v1.1.604.0.zip" to a convenient location.

* Find and change to the "Media Player Classic" directory in the K-Lite install directory (default location is under "Program Files").

* Replace the "mplayerc.exe" file with the version from the extracted ZIP-file. This is most easily done using a dual-pane file manager; the one built in to "7-Zip" works fine.

If full screen playback is not working that really is a driver problem (broken Overlay). Ask any expert.

An alternative solution is to change the video renderer in Media Player Classic options.

MPC Options -> Playback -> Output -> DirectShow video

I'm having the same problem as John Doro,my videos aren't playing in fullscreen with media player classic.Windows media player,VLC,and WinAmp running in fullscreen with no problems.I installed older video card drivers and same thing,so I know isn't the drivers.

I had an older version which worked great (3.8.0 I believe) but just installed 4.0.0 Standard version and now windows vista dvd maker won't work. Please help!!!

If video fails to play in fullscreen, then that is caused by your graphics card drivers.

I often get my video files won't view in full screen with K-Lite Mega Codec. Can you tell me what is the problem ? Thanks

Plays all my vid files.

vidoe becomes pixelated when playing ".mov" and ".rm" files in fullscreen. also my desktop theme switches from windows aero to basic. o.O
im on vista ultimate x86. [all latest updates n latest drivers installed]

bah... when you started taking things out i just returned to the old 3.4.0 version.

you should instead of releasing another version, simply create an update of older versions if posible, in order to keep all the features (you know.. core avc, QT)

Video files with a ".avi" extension do not generate a thumbnail. :( im on vista ultimate x86. (all drivers of al parts are updated to their respective versions)

The codec that plays "MP4" I beleive needs to be fixed. I've a few files that are MP4 where the aspect ratio is displaying in WMP11 as almost 1x1(too narrow), where it should be at least 3x4 if not wider? An associate send me a screen shot of the exact same video I have playing in his QT and the aspect ration is perfect!
Please advise.

cmuda.sys belongs to the CMedia AC97 Audio Device driver.

I suggest you update that driver.

I had a problem when playing .AVI movie using MPC which included in this k-lite mega codec pack, when i start to play, then there will be BSOD with cmuda.sys error! Then i only can play movie using VLC player! What the problem actually i don't know!

All the videos I encoded on linux will finally play on windows. Thanks for this great codec pack.

Generally I love this thingie compared to WMP or anything else but since switching to ver 3.x onwards, most of the time I open some video files(.avi & .mpg), the Classic player will freeze and in Windows Taskmanager it takes up all the processing power. I've tried on a few computers with the same result... Did I miss anything? I've basically all the codecs installed.

Can someone give some pointers? :)

DVD's that use two different audio streams placed together in a single stereo stereo are extremely rare I would think. Normal DVD's use separate audio tracks for different languages.

But your problem should be fixable:
1) During installation select ffdshow (instead of AC3Filter) as decoder for AC3/DTS/LPCM.
2) In ffdshow audio decoder options, go to the Volume page and enable it. On that page you can find a M (mute) button for each input audio channel. Just mute the channel that contains the language that you don't want.

Alternatively, you can configure Ac3Filter/ffdshow to output Stereo (2.0) sound and use the Windows Wave settings to set the volume balance all the way to the left/right channel. I think this was your original intention. The reason why that probably didn't work is because the decoders were configured for 5.1 output. That means that stereo input will be upmixed to 5.1 output.

I've been using the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack 3.75 for a few days on a few computers for few days.
There might be some bugs in it's sound mixer for vob (dvd) files with audio with different languages on left and right channels when playind with WMP and MPC. The sound from left and right mixes together, even by manually changing the the sound (wave) properties in windows. Only managed to filter it properly with PowerDVD

The versions b4 this no problem at all.

Note: This happen on all 3 computers that I've updated with this version.

It seems klite mega does no longer include QTA

Why remove CoreAVC? It's very good.

First it was QuickTime, now this? This "mega" package seems to be leaking good stuff.
