k lite has stuffed up my running version of vista. Games will not load if they have a video introduction. DivX for me.

@steandric, you can keep the DivX Pack installed. K-Lite gives you a YES/NO choice to uninstall it. Simply select NO to keep it.

when i tried to install this pack it says i must first uninstall the divx n my computer. why? coz i want to keep divx. can i have them both?

K-Lite Codec Pack 3.4.5 DOES NOT Work With Vista Ultimate x64.I think the prob is with 64bit.
eg: VFW is in "wowsys64" while he shortcut says it is in "system32"....

I use Vista Business and K-Lite Codec Pack Standard 3.4.0 works just fine for me :-) I use Media Player Classic to playback all the MP4 files generated using Nero Recode.

I have installed it an several Vista machines and everything plays perfectly.

If you have vista DO NOT DOWNLOAD K LITE. It probably work's great for other systems but this is the 2nd time that Ive downloaded k lite(first time I did I had a TON of problems and thought it was something else so I had to do a complete system restore) after restoring I found out that it was k lite that was the problem. problems being no sound at all in my windows media player (or any other player for that matter,limewire,bearshare,shareaza were all messed up my windows dvd maker would no longer make dvd's nor even attempt to edit movies and it knocked half (3 out of 6) of my speakers out because it messed up my realtek hd audio manager.

Don't get me wrong I've used these packs on xp with my old computer and they work AWESOME, but if you've got vista just take my advise before you get all the headaches that i just went through.

Very Very good, it ownz CCCP because CCCP keeps giving me this DAMN \"Windows Explorer needs to be closed\" error, aaannnnd this ONLY happens when i install CCCP. Before that, my comp runs fine with no errors whatsoever. After i install KLCP (K-Lite Codec Pack), my comp has no \"WINDOWS EXPLORER NEEDS TO BE CLOSED\"......... enough said.. =___=

It work well for some media but mess up some capture programs i used for capturing videos from my DV Camera. I've used cole2k codec pack and that was fine before uninstalling. Then decided to use this one 3.40 Full.I'm not experience with this codec pack. Does anyone know how to fix this problem. Thanks

It's a great codec pack, except for one thing. Xvid. I've had ~8 installations that wouldn't install xvid codecs properly and for that reason I recommend XP Codec Pack instead.

Which games give problems? It can be solved by putting them on the ffdshow blacklist.

so far it works find for most video.but i have some AVI that can't be play.and some games opening movie that can't be open too.

Meh, I'd rather just use a player that comes with a lot of codecs built in like VLC, I always have problems with codec packs. K-Lite is no different, it has many problems related to Steam applications.

okay, i've tried this one. but when playing mkv file with my bsplayer... the subtitle wont show up.

the solution that i found is i just go to ffdshow video configuration and enabled the h264 codec (it was disabled when the first i saw it) by selecting the libavcodec. after that, my mkv where they used h264 codec can be play with subtitle in my bsplayer!! i hope this will help anyone who get the same problem as me!

Your stereo audio source is probably MP3 format? If so, enable MP3 decoding in ffdshow and you can enjoy upmixing to 5.1 channels.

this codek pack is everything u need to play allmost any video file. the only thing that makes this not worthwhile is the fact that if u have 5.1 setup u will not get any sound in your rear speakers when playing from stereo source.
so all in all a good upload just not what i needed on my system. If other ppl have the same prob, i can recommend trying gordian knot codec pack. It did the job for me.

The pack probably fails to register quartz.dll. That is a vital component of DirectX that is sometimes accidentally unregistered by buggy applications.

Manually registering quartz.dll might solve your AVI problems. If not, your DirectX installation could be broken.

I was having problems playing AVI files in any of the media players I have installed (VLC, BSPlayer Pro, JetAudio, Windows Media Player, Media Player Classic) - the audio tracks were garbled, faint etc... I checked for an updated Klite Codec Pack. At the end of the uninstall for the previous version, an error message popped up (see screenshot), I clicked OK and then version 3.25F installed - at the end of that procedure the same error message appears.

This excellent download that just ended hours of frustration. Ahhh, Players weren't working, games weren't working, and I was on the verge of breaking down after reading so many tech forums .... this download repaired some broken codecs and got everything working in 4 seconds..... BYYYYYYYYYHHHHHHHAAAAAAA !!!!!!!!
Whoever is responsible.... Hats off and thank you for allowing the world to turn again....

Still using 98 on one pc, installed v2.88 (last version for that o/s) and seems to have resolved a number of issues - now plays seemingly everything I throw at it, very impressed.
It did require a tweak in options to get dvd sound to appear, but no big deal. Working well.

i also get crashes in explorer and media player.
and on my box it kills my media center~~~~~

I confess I haven't used it yet. My "3" rating is a rating based on the reviews.

Apparently, besides the many happy users,many people are dissatisfied, have lots of problems with compatibility, etc.

I have but one video file I've been unable to view thus far. I thought K-Lite might be the ticket.
But now I'm thinking with the potential problems I may be getting if I download K-lite, is it worth the hassle just so I can potentially view one video file?

I had trouble playing DVD's in general before installing installing k-lite full 3.2.0 . I can, now, watch DVD's, but the sound is some sort of scratching (I think that's the term in English - I'm Danish) and it seems like it isn't playing in "normal speed", although it's set to do so...
Can anyone please help me with the audio problems? I have been searching Google for k-lite faq's, but couldn't find any sites.

i just recently installed the new 3.15 when ever i use the media player classic to play videos i get kind of lag time either the player hangs or it takes very long to load. tried reinstalling the codec as i though it was corrupted but it turn out to be other wise please advice!

This pack solved my MPEG2 playback problems in WMP 11 in Vista. I had installed several free MPEG2 codecs, but WMP 11 would not use any of them to play a DVD.

After intalling K-Lite full, (no installation problems) my DVDs played no problems! Great Pack!

Those who say that it messed up their system are not telling the truth. That is likely their own fault. Blaming others for their own f**k-ups.

It actually is able to detect broken stuff and remove it for you. If you are prompted at the end of the installation because it found something broken, then just answer Yes to let it clean the broken entries from the registry.

A missing d3d9.dll message means that DirectX is not installed on your computer.

For those who have problems with BSplayer, try the Gabest splitters instead of the Haali ones. But even then BSplayer is very buggy. Just have a look on the BSplayer forums. Better use a different player.

After about 5 days the soft is harming up computer.Crap crap soft, dont install it in any case.

I tried installing the K-lite Codec Pack, but somehow it can't seem to. At the end, there was a missing d3d9.dll message. When I got it from the internet, it gave me another message

Problem what should i do with the broken codecs? should i say yes to deleting reg entries or no. plus why does it say MP3 and others disabled in ffdshow config? all i know that it ruined whatever i had, except for ac3filter which is what i wanted.

In my opinion this is the best codec pack since my friend suggested xp codec pack but i dont like it i think k-lite rocks and kicks all the others asses lol

I had a video coded with DX50 (DivX 5.0). I have already installed Xvid as well as DivX 6.4. But yet i could not play. The audio was OGG Vorbis codec. I downloaded Audio Codec. Audio codec was OK but video codec i could not. I installed original DivX 5.0 after uninstalling DivX 6.4 and XVid. But it did not work. I tried other packages even FFD. Finally i tried this. While installing it prompted me to remove all broken links of codec and i selected yes. Finally after installing everything worked fine.

It says it supports most codecs, but certainly NOT all codecs work! It makes my BSplayer hang or report 'Cannot render file'. I also get crashes in explorer/firefox and media player.
Perhaps the only useful thing at K-lite codec pack is boost Ac3 audio hack but apart from that K-lite 2.89 codec pack is total crap.

Thank you, its amazing that Windows Vista (all things to all people) can't afford to provide a dvd decoder to run on the Media player. Whats up with that? K-lite is the best!!
