Well gents you may want to try the kmplayer it plays everything. I have used vlc and Media player in the past but kmplayer works great with no bugs.

had this 2yrs been totaly nuts hot great. but 4 some reason copied dvd's will play but not genuine ones!!!! they used to???? help please some one b4 i fkn explode cheers

this is, simply put, the best codec pack available. I recommend installing over a fresh install of Windows XP SP2.

Have had this codec pack f/ at least a year or more.Have never had one bit of problems w/ it.It`s an excellent product,even had to uninstall once because of another problem it had nothing to do with,reinstalled and even upgraded and have had no problems whatsoever.

auto load Vsfilter is on, which is why it does work in windows media player.
I also tried updating directx to the latest version as i read somewhere that could solve the problem (it didn't).

You need to enable the option "Auto-load VSFilter" in Haali Media Splitter options.

Then Media Center should load the subtitles like the other players do.

Since I upgraded to version 4.10 I can not get linked subs to work in Mediacenter xp. They do work in windows mediaplayer.
embedded fonts (in an .mkv container) work in both players.
I tried installing older versions of vsfilter.dll but the problem remains. If I have a movie.mkv and a movie.srt in the same folder it will load in windows media player but not in windows media center. Vsfilter.dll just doesn't load.
It always used to work with klite 3.90 which I used until yesterday.
does anyone know a fix for this?

The pack is not responsible for generating thumbnails. Windows Explorer does that using a shell extension.

You must have installed something else that broke thumbnail generation.

Try this to fix it:
Start > Run > regsvr32 shmedia.dll

Hi, i got the same error as Alex. I cant play all video format in my window media player but i try classic can.

I just installed this new version. With the previous version my avi files would get thumbnails but with this new version there is no thumbnail. Anyone have any idea how to fix this?

This is a very good pack. I use it all the time. However, it has troube with the ehome of VISA recently. It seems to be caused by a update of VISA, but I am not sure about this. The problme is that the ehrecvr.exe servcie always consumes all of my memory about 99%. After my try to disable some codecs, the requested memory is smaller. That is pretty strange! The ac3filter also takes about (471-125)MBytes if it is enabled. Thanks to the GSpot tool; I find a way to not use the ac3filter. Currently, it still takes 125MBytes!

Just went from 3.7.0 to 4.0.0

Media Player Classic was NOT included, in spite of all the options for associating files.

Had to download it manually, and all seems fine though.

I installed K-Lite Codec Pack full version. DVD playing is choppy but audio is good. So, the vuideo falls behind and then catches up with the audio. Any idea what's causing this?

i am not able to play any videos online after installing klite mega pack 3.9. i am using firefox ? can any one tell what the problem is ?

Downloaded and installed the k-lite codec pack last night. It fixed all the problems I was having with my newly purchased dvd/cd player/burner. Also now I can watch DVDs on my PC. Thanks a million.

Try selecting the system default AVI splitter (Microsoft) instead of the Gabest one during installation.

This version has a problem with some AVI files, motion stops completely in certain frames for a few seconds. Older version 2.82 or VLC (Videolan) is ok playing the same file.

Slows down my computer so that it is completely unusable. Other software works fine.

The pack ONLY configures the components that are included in the pack. It does not change any other settings.

The problem that you describe occurs for example when you play 5.1 channel audio on stereo speakers. It can be solved very easily by configuring the audio decoder (or the player) to convert the 6 audio channels into two output channels.

The pack has a speaker configuration option in the installer and also in its tweak tool.

bad codecs, ever since i installed them ive got audio problem on pc, i try uninstalling but it seems it changes settings,
the problem is lets say i want to listen music
where a band sings [ more than 1 person],
well the music and the singer on main mic will hear with normal sound, while all others singing behind will hardly be hard [ i had to turn speakers to maximum to hear them].

well the problem is you cannot fix that by uninstalling codec, the only way i could do it was reinstalling windows xp.

The best feature in Media Player Classic is how the user can increase video size within the window using 2,4,6,8. Appreciate the great codec pack. Oh btw, for my no audio problem i had, I had accidentally put on 3/0/2 - 5 channel under FFDshow Mixer column, and changing it back to 2/0 Stereo speaker setup, allowed me to cure my NO SOUND playing MPG in K-Lite Codec Pack and WMP and Windows Media Player.

Ok, what did i do now?

I get no sound on some MPGs during playback. I have had this problem since v3.75. Audio plays fine in VLC Media Player.

I run install at Default Settings changing very little if anything.

I've used K Lite for years but I've had problems since with recent avi files.

A lot of codecs have been released for HD broadcasting this is the cause of a lot of problems. You may have heard of them. H.264 (x.264 MPEG-4 AVC). This H.264 is used my many of the UK broadcasters.

The problem is this is more of a catagory as it can H.264 can have different A/V decoders and a single codec pack won't provide all of them

I friend put me onto VLC and I haven't had a problem since and it plays all HD avi files without any problems. It free to download and is supported on pretty much all system inluding linux.

It also supports a lor more file formats such as MKV and a lot more.

If Heaven had a codec pack, I think this would be that pack. I'm not a big downloader of films and the like, so when some videos I had on my compie suddenly stopped working, I was quite worried. Until I randomly stumbled here. They work again! I could kiss someone! :D

Your problem is not caused by the codec pack. That does not install any Windows Media stuff.

All I can suggest is to update your nvidia driver and install WMP11.

thanks for your replay but i googled "dxva_sig.txt" & none of the solutions worked plus can't find the "DXVA hardware acceleration for Windows Media" option in my graphic card

sorry to bother you but i tried to solve it for 5 hours & couldn't solve it so do you know any other way to solve this problem?

note that this is the 1st time this happened & i'v been using this codec pack for over a year

other note i have nvidia 6600LE graphic card & i have a wmp9 in my system (yup i tried wmp10 & 11 & still the same problem even after update)

That dxva_sig.txt file is created by the Windows Media codecs from Microsoft. Disable DXVA hardware acceleration for Windows Media in your graphics card control panel.

Just google "dxva_sig.txt" for more info.

this pack is really one of the best out there

tho i'm having a problem in the recent update, when i try to open a .wmv video with MPclassic the video slows down really bad & a text file shows up with the name "dxva_sig" & in the text file there is only the letter "B" & it runs also slow with the wmplayer but the text file doesn't show up & it runs normal with the VLC player tho there is no sound so anyone knows what the problem? since this is the 1st time i encounter a problem with this codec pack

This pack works perfectly fine on a clean Windows install. So either you did something wrong, or more likely, your problems are caused by buggy graphics drivers.

This masterpiece does something which is rarely seen nowadays: IT CAN F**K UP A FRESH WinXP INSTALL completely just by installing it using the default settings.
"Clean uninstall including registry cleanup is a major feature" they say. However after uninstalling this "state of the art" pack and installing my favourite ACE MEGA CODECS Pack 6.03 (which is heavily outdated that's why I tried to find a replacement) surprise: ACE is not working as well... This m*f* screw up something.

gotta go to reinstall windows again...

That is a false positive detection of AVG. It probably deleted the uninstaller.

AVG said it was infected with a trojan upon installing, but CODEC runs great after it was cleaned!

Playing a m2ts file nothing else could! Hats off for this!!!!

maybe you should go back and actually read my thread going through my problems. It's ffdshow that keeps causing problems, not codecs. Thanks for 'trying' though.

Playback of WMV files is done purely with codecs from Microsoft.
